The Mayor’s Message
Thank you for visiting our website for the Town of Oakboro. On behalf of the town council, employees and our 2100+ citizens, I want to warmly welcome you and hope that this site can supply you with helpful information on everything our town has to offer.
We are blessed to have many activities nearby for both our residents and visitors to enjoy. In town you can spend a day at the Oakboro District Park, which offers a one mile walking trail, playground equipment, picnic shelters, disc golf course, ballfields and much more. You can walk through beautiful downtown full of classic cars on Main Street during a monthly Cruise-In or take in some history at the Oakboro Regional Museum of History or our railroad museum and replica train depot.
Located in the western area of Stanly County, we are in close proximity to Charlotte, Monroe, and Concord, making Oakboro an ideal place to live. We are close to great opportunities for other recreational activities, whether it’s a day at Lake Tillery or Badin Lake, a hike through the 53,000 acres of the Uwharrie Mountains, or panning for your own gold at Reed Gold Mine.
Our children are able to go to the award winning schools of Oakboro Elementary, West Stanly Middle School and West Stanly High School. We have several fine institutions for higher education close by, including Stanly Community College, Pfeiffer University, Wingate University and UNC- Charlotte.
Oakboro is a business friendly town that still keeps the small town warmth and charm. We offer amenities such as water and sewer as well as garbage and recycling pick-up to town residents. Whether you are looking for a place for your home or business, or just somewhere to just spend a day, we know that you could not find a better place than Oakboro.
Please call Oakboro Town Hall at 704-485-3351 or email Town Hall at if you need more information about our wonderful town.
